Hello my friends.
Today I decided to take a much needed “Art Sanity Break” and draw something I’ve been meaning to draw for a long, LONG time now: JOHN BLACKSAD!
I’ve LOVED the BLACKSAD comics since I first discovered them in Montreal in 2004, and I’ve always wanted to draw the titular hero in my own sexy way.
The character of BLACKSAD was created by Juan Diaz Canales (Author), Juanjo Guarnido (Illustrator), and his adventures are always visually stunning with incredibly well-woven and engaging stories. There’s a great beauty to them, and they’ve long left me inspired.
All this to say that BLACKSAD is a deeply sexy, cool cat and I really wanted to create a fan art that emphasizes his masculine beauty! I made 2 versions, a nude Bust and a “Trouser variant” for those of you who prefer a little something left to the imagination. 😉
I created this drawing with a great deal of respect and deep admiration for Canales and Guarnido and their character. My illustration is intended as loving fan art, and as a personal thank you for their continued, brilliant work!
I hope you too will enjoy my take on this iconic character! And if you’ve never read BLACKSAD comics, I suggest you check them out. They are true works of artistic genius!

Of the two, I believe the second one is my personal favorite. Seeing this guy as you’ve drawn him, I keep going back to ThunderCats.
Speaking of which, were you ever a fan of ThunderCats, Mr. Fillion? I’d love to see your take on a nude Panthro and nude Lion-O.

Thanks so much for the wonderful comment. I’m really glad you like the second version. I love the nude a lot of course, but I like that the trousers variant is such a tease! LOL! I’ve actually drawn Lion-O… though looking at him now, I would do a few things differently. LOL! Dear god… that is a dream come true. I’ve wanted to see that version of Blacksad for a very long time. Along with a scene where he and that stupid, nasty and despicable (but really really hot) white wolf of Arctic Nation would make out in a toe-curling way. Thanks for providing the former, mister Fillion. I too adore the comics, they are incredibly well drawn and the stories are really compelling.
As an aside note, thanks for all the comics *you* provide us with.
