So, at around midnight, Thursday the 23rd of August, I found out that Marina Sirtis and Brent Spiner, who played Counselor Deanna Troi and Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation respectively, were going to be in town on the following day for STAR TREK DAYS, a Trek event being held at the Vancouver PNE! Naturally, Fraser and I HAD to go see them. I ran to Staples on the morning of, to print off a couple of copies of my Deanna Troi illustration, in the hopes that I could get Marina to sign them. I also made a copy to give to her. I called my friend Kaija, who’s a HUGE Trek Fan too, invited her along, and off the three of us went to meet some of our heroes!
The line-ups at the Trek Event were MADNESS, but OH SO WORTH IT! Marina and Brent were both incredibly funny, witty, charming and gracious, and true pleasure to meet. And Marina was really pleased with the drawing, and was sweet enough to sign a copy for Fraser and I and a copy for my friend Kaija.

Marina really loved that I brought one for her too. Of course, I felt pretty bad because upon seeing the illustration, Brent pipes up and says “HEY! I want a drawing too! Where’s my drawing?”! LOL! I told him that Troi was part of my “Queens of Sci-Fi” series, and that Data didn’t really fit the bill… but I am determined to draw him a Data and find a way to get it to him somehow. LOL! So yeah — You can expect a Data down the road, folks!

After getting the autographs, I was pretty euphoric — still sorta am, in fact. It was a wonderful moment, and seeing the smile on Marina’s face when I showed her my drawing was something I won’t ever forget! TOTAL. AWESOMENESS!!!!
